Getting around Bali
The best way to get around Bali is by hiring a driver. You can ask your hotel or go onto any road in the main cities and you will find drivers or ‘taksi’ drivers to take you around. Uber and Grab is another option, but is frowned upon as they want you to use the local drivers, but its usually half the cost. A driver should be around 200-400k for a 1 way trip ($15-$30 USD). You can hire a drive for a 1/2 day or full day from 500k-800k ($35-$60 USD). If you are in Bali for a while, renting a scooter is the best option, but is semi-dangerous, so be careful when driving! You don’t need an international drivers license, but if you get stopped at a check-point, you will get a ticket. ALWAYS wear a helmet and don’t drink and drive.
A scooter for the day should be around $50k ($3.75 USD) and around $700k for a month ($55 USD) depending on the scooter and where you rent it from. You can fill up gas for the scooter everywhere in Bali as there are little shops on the side of the roads that sell gas in vodka bottles for only 10k (less than $1 USD), and it takes 2-3 of them to fill up your scooter and will go a long ways.
